About our school

Why Weeton

A small village school where every child is known by name, nurtured, and encouraged to flourish.

ADMISSIONS

Joining Weeton St Michaels

A place for new school starters in our Reception class is offered through Lancashire County Council’s main admissions round, usually by the middle of January for a September start. We welcome you to come and visit the school as a next step either by contacting the school or at one of our drop in afternoons.

In-Year Admissions

If you are hoping to join us partway through the year, that is called an in-year admission. In-year applications can be made at any point and we can often help you arrange it directly, just get in touch with the office.

Places

Places are offered according to our admissions policy (see below) and Lancashire’s coordinated scheme, which set out what happens if we have more applications than places. As a small school we are rarely oversubscribed, so most families who apply are offered one.

Appeals

Appeal information applies to both routine applications for September entry and all in-year admissions. If your application for a place is unsuccessful, you may submit an appeal within twenty days of receiving the refusal of admission. The appeal process allows you to explain why you would like your child to attend our school. Appeals are administered by the Lancashire County Council Appeals Team, and both the appeal forms and guidance on completing them can be found on the Lancashire County Council website:
