SEND & INCLUSION
Welcome to Weeton St Michael’s Church of England Primary School
At Weeton St Michael's, we are committed to creating a happy, secure, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. We celebrate the dignity and worth of every member of our school community, recognising that by loving and supporting one another, we reflect the love of Jesus and empower each individual to reach their full potential.
Supporting Every Child’s Unique Needs
In partnership with parents and carers, we strive to meet the individual needs of each child, including those with additional needs. We understand that all children may face challenges in their learning journey from time to time. Our goal is to provide equal access to a broad, balanced curriculum for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND).
Our dedicated teaching staff are actively involved in supporting the learning and development of pupils with SEND. We believe in a collaborative approach, where parents and carers are key partners throughout the process.
Early Identification and Tailored Support
At Weeton St Michael’s, we place great importance on identifying any additional needs as early as possible. This enables us to adapt our curriculum to ensure every child can access learning in a way that suits their individual needs. Whether it’s through differentiated lessons or personalised support, we work hard to ensure all pupils can reach their potential.
Where a child has specific needs, we make reasonable adjustments to help them overcome challenges. This may include additional support, provided either within the classroom, in small groups, or on an individual basis. On occasion, we may seek expertise from external agencies such as the School Health Service, Behaviour Support Service, or the Educational Psychology Service.
The Local Offer
Local Authorities and schools are required to publish and regularly review information about the services available for children and young people with SEND, from ages 0-25. This is known as the ‘Local Offer’ and is designed to provide families with better choice and transparency. It also serves as a valuable resource for understanding the range of services and support available in the local area.
As part of the SEND reforms under the Children and Families Act 2014, the Local Offer is continually updated to ensure families have access to up-to-date information.

Who’s Who?
Each primary school is required to designate a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), who is responsible for coordinating day-to-day provisions for pupils with SEND. At Weeton St Michael’s, our dedicated SENCO is Mrs Nicola Rillie.
In addition, a member of the school’s governing body takes special oversight of SEND provision. At our school, Mrs Dawn Ansell is the appointed governor, working closely with Mrs Rillie to ensure our SEND provision is effective and continuously improving.
